The Team
Kevin Preston
Barrister
Kevin received a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) from the University of Sheffield in 1989 and a Master of Laws from the University of Central Lancashire in 2005. Admitted in England and Wales in 1992, he subsequently practiced as a solicitor advocate at Farleys Solicitors before immigrating to New Zealand and joining the Public Defence Service where he became Wellington's Public Defender. He was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 2009 and undertook practice on his own account in 2018.
Islay Aitchison
Barrister
Islay graduated with a Bachelor of Laws and Bachelor of Arts from Victoria University of Wellington in 2022. While studying, Islay represented New Zealand in the Brown Mosten International Client Consultation Competition. She also won multiple mooting competitions, including the Norris Ward McKinnon National Family Law Moot. She commenced her employment with Kevin Preston Barrister in 2020 and was admitted as a Barrister and Solicitor of the High Court of New Zealand in 2022.
